Abrazos: Music + Dance + Culture

Abrazos* is an exciting new cultural centre created by members of TangoSingapore, to give tangueros an unencumbered space to hold events and courses throughout the year.

The word "abrazos" means "embrace" in Spanish. It is an appropriate name for the new headquarter for our dance community.

Address of Abrazos: 568 Ganges Avenue #02-100 (near Jalan Besar Town Council, opposite Boys Brigade, 5 mins from Great World City)

Occupying a space of 3000 sq feet, the venue provides the following facilities (in addition to being our laboratory for incubating artistes and entrepreneurs):

• a multi-purpose hall for holding exhibition, milongas or events with seating capacity for 60 people,
• a teaching studio for dance and music,
• a merchandize boutique selling shoes, music and collectibles,
• a coffee and tea bar with snacks,

Once in operation, the venue will be available 24/7 to the community. It will be staffed by full-time and part-time tangueros.

These are examples of the programs that will be offered at Abrazos:

• Tango and other dance courses
• Milonga parties
• Outreach programs for inducting newbies
• Training and development for tango troupe, orchestra and new trainers
• Exhibition of film, arts and designs under the Tango Rendezvous project

Abrazos will be funded by membership fees and cashflow from courses, events and facility hire. Our long term target to sustain a population of 300 active tangueros.
